5 out of 5 stars make sure you get a subscription with a disc!   December 11, 2002

If you've got a 'BOX (and why would you be subscribing to this mag if you didn't?) DON'T get the subscription without the disc. somebody got me the subscription from here as a gift, and i have to occaisionaly go out and buy a second copy of the mag just so i can get the disc! (hello, splinter cell demo!)

The magazine itself is a wicked great read; all of the editors have distinctly cool personalities and game preferences. In the year that i've been reading, i've gotten to know all of their gaming preferences and feel i can trust their reviews of the games i'm looking for advice on.

to sum up my feelings on the magazine: i'm always excited when i get a new one, i always read it from cover to cover, i'm always sad when i finish the last page, i'm always waiting for the next one, and i've never been disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars No disk?!   November 19, 2002

This is a great magazine, and well worth the money. It has great articles and reviews.

HOWEVER, why would any sane person subscribe to this with out the disk? The extra few bucks are worth having the demo disk every month. Don't waste your time with out the disk, go to the horse's mouth, spend the extra few bucks, and get it with the demo disk!

5 out of 5 stars Mag + DVD, just as promised   May 24, 2008

It takes several weeks for order to go though(6-ish weeks), but from there on it's all peachy.
Just for clarification - magazine DOES include the disc.

All in all, everything is exactly as advertised.
Rate it 5/5

Well, ordered this a few weeks back and was expecting it to arrive in March. To my surprise, it arrived almost a whole month earlier! Talk about great service. The magazine is awesomely written and even includes a demo disc with each issue! Instead of paying over $10.00 per magazine at a news stand, this costs only $25.00 for an entire year!

5 out of 5 stars Consistent Magazine! : )   January 16, 2009

I have been reading Official Xbox Magazine (OXM) since I first saw it at Toys R Us when the Original Xbox first launched.

I subscribed a few weeks later (not through Amazon.com, but through the mail-in postcard).

OXM details just about anything Xbox, with a few random articles and features thrown in. The reviews are okay (but it's not something I care about much anyways - [it's all about the previews for me]).

The writing style is a bit strange at times, as the editors sometimes like to go off on tangents and use bizarre metaphors and the like to describe certain details.

Some features are a hit and miss, it all depends on what interests you. But it's a guarantee you will find at least one article in each issue interesting.

OXM also has a website, as well a good forum on Xbox.com so you can socialize with other OXM readers. (That's free, of course).

The disc that comes with the magazine has unfortunately been somewhat lackluster over the last 2 years due to the fact most of the items on the disc can be downloaded through Xbox Live. However if you do not have Xbox Live, then the disc is a great way to keep in touch with what is going on in the video game industry.

Some specials on the disc include exclusive gamertagpics, themes, and videos.

Overall, for $24.95 - 12 issues and 12 discs, you can't really go wrong. If anything, at least support print magazines before they go out of style! I don't want to look at a computer screen all day to look up video game information...

Besides, just that feeling of having a magazine delivered to your mailbox and opening up the wrapper is worth it : )
